A fastener assembly for attaching components of dissimilar material includes a fastener, a spacer, and a mechanism for tightening the assembly. The spacer compensates for differences in thermal expansion rates between the non-metal component and the metal component while providing a tight attachme nt therebetween. An opening formed within the metal component is an elongated slot that accommodates the body portion of the fastener passing therethrough with the spacer and allows relative movement between the non-metal component and the metal component.
