PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method by a saw mill, in which a cutting direction and a saw blade speed of the saw mill are adjusted by calculating or detecting a distortion quantity of the saw blade, to thereby control a radial force and a cutting length. SOLUTION: According to the cutting method by the saw mill, the saw blade B is endlessly wound on a driving wheel 23 and a driven wheel 25 which are rotatably arranged in a saw blade housing 7 of the saw mill 1, and the saw blade B is moved and rotated by rotation of the wheels 23, 25, to thereby cut a workpiece material W by the saw blade B guided by two backup units 37, 39. When the workpiece material is cut, a distortion quantity limit value of the saw blade assumed when curved cutting of the workpiece material W occurs, is set beforehand, and an actual distortion quantity of the saw blade B in a cutting direction is directly measured. Thus cutting by the saw mill is carried out by controlling the cutting direction according to the actual distortion quantity of the saw blade such that the actual distortion quantity of the saw blade does not exceed the distortion quantity limit value.
