<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head posture estimating device that is easily worn and used by a user without giving sense of visual incongruity to a third person and can accurately estimate the posture of the user's head and to provide a head posture estimating method and a head posture estimation processing program. <P>SOLUTION: A sensor part 10 comprises an infrared camera 1, an infrared illuminator 2, a wide angle camera 3, a microphone 4 and a communication part 5 is attached to the user's chest. The infrared camera 1 photographs an infrared image including the user's head and body, and a data processing part 7 extracts a person area including the user's head and body from the photographed infrared image, subsequently determines a border line representing the boundary between the head and the body in the person area, extracts the tip of the nose at which the distance from the middle point of the border line is maximum and estimates the posture of the head on the basis of the position of the tip of the nose. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
