<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording unit which is prevented from being deformed to be curled due to printing, even in the case of high density thermal recording with high printing heat energy, while maintaining high recording image quality. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal recording unit has a thermal recording layer containing a leuco dye and a coloring agent on one surface of a support comprising a biaxially oriented film. As a whole, a measured value at 20°C in performing a temperature raising/lowering expansion/contraction measurement in the temperature range from a room temperature to 150°C to 200°C, satisfies the expressions simultaneously: (1) -1%≤S<SB>χ</SB>≤+1%, (2) -5≤S<SB>0</SB>/S<SB>90</SB>≤+5 äwherein S represents an expansion/contraction ratio measurement value at 20°C, codes such as minus (-) and plus (+) mean contraction and expansion respectively, and subscript<SB>χ</SB>represents all direction angle values when the vertical direction (MD) of the recording unit is 0° and the horizontal direction (TD) of the recording unit is 90°}. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
