<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline battery excellent in a load property and a molding property. <P>SOLUTION: On the alkaline battery using at least manganese dioxide as a cathode activator, a BET specific surface area of the cathode activator is 40 to 100 m<SP>2</SP>/g, and the volume fraction of particles with the particle size of 20 to 52μm is 50% or higher.
