<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swash plate capable of maintaining sliding resistance at a low level for a long period, a method of manufacturing the swash plate, and a swash plate type compressor having the swash plate. <P>SOLUTION: This swash plate comprises a disk-like steel plate 10, bearing alloy layers 15 and 16 adhered to both surfaces of the disk-like steel plate 10, and tin platings 15a and 15b applied to the surfaces of the bearing alloy layers 15 and 16. Accordingly, even if a groove is formed in the routes of shoes 9 and 9 and the area of the swash plate brought into contact with the shoes 9 and 9 is increased, its slidability is complemented by the tin platings 15a and 15b applied to the bearing alloy layers 15 and 16 and the sliding resistance can be maintained at the low level for the long period. Also, when the alloy density of the bearing alloy layers 15 and 16 is increased, the sliding resistance is maintained at a lower level.
