PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber for casks which is excellent in a shock mitigation performance that allows shock caused by falling to be dispersed in good balance and absorbed by the shock absorber. SOLUTION: While the shock is dispersed over the whole shock absorber inside a housing 41 by a radial bulkhead 45 placed radially in the housing 41 in the direction of a flat surface of the housing 41 and made of a metal plate and is absorbed efficiently, a radial bulkhead 45a can be deformed easily by making the wall thickness of the radial bulkhead 45a in a first region outside the boundary of the upper end face of a radial rib 44 thinner than that of a radial bulkhead 45b in a second region inside the boundary (on the side of a cask 1) to restrain the shock from traveling to the cask 1 and maintain the excellent shock absorption performance.
