<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform scheduling appropriately when mixture of monochrome image pages and color image pages are printed on both sides. <P>SOLUTION: When an image P1a to be formed on the first side of a first recording sheet and an image P1b to be formed at a position dependent on the position of the first image P1a are arranged, images P2a and P2b on the first and second sides of a second recording sheet are arranged temporarily. A decision is made whether switching of a developing module has occurred between the temporarily arranged image and an already arranged image or not, and assurance of an appropriate skip pitch is confirmed if it has occurred. If an appropriate skip pitch is not assured, images on the first and second sides are arranged again temporarily at next positions and the occurrence of switching and assurance of a skip pitch are confirmed.
