PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for sterilizing and washing e.g. small fish for eliminating the excess and deficiency of a sterilizer and regularly appropriately maintaining sterilization effect through subjecting raw material small fish to sterilization washing treatment while grasping the quantity consumed of the sterilizer using a sterilizer spraying nozzle before boiling processing, preventing the sterilizer from invading the raw material small fish at the time of boiling processing and leaving no sterilizer even in a product. SOLUTION: The method for sterilizing and washing the small fish comprises mixing with air the quantity of the sterilizer necessary for sterilizing the raw material small fish and spraying the mixture to the raw material small fish from the sterilizer spraying nozzle 6 by the action of compressed air before boiling processing in a method for boiling processing of the raw material small fish. The apparatus for sterilizing and washing the small fish has a transportation conveyor 4 transporting the raw material small fish to a boiling device, the sterilizer spraying nozzle 6 set on the transportation conveyor 4 and spraying the quantity of the sterilizer necessary for sterilizing the raw material small fish to the raw material small fish, and a washing nozzle 7 scattering rinse water on the raw material small fish.
