<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exchange joint for quickly joining an existing pipe such as a gas conduit to a renewal pipe formed of a thermoplastic resin such as polyethylene and pulled therein. <P>SOLUTION: The exchange joint 1 comprises a joint body 2 covered with a cover resin 3 and having a first socket 4a for receiving a steel pipe (the existing pipe 21) via a packing 12a and a second socket 4b for receiving the resin pipe 22 via a packing 12b, a first pressing ring 6a for compressing the packing 12a, and a second pressing ring for compressing the packing 12b. The packing 12b is held between a protecting ring 11 to be mounted between the resin pipe 22 and the second pressing ring 6b and a retainer 13b. The retainer 13b abuts on a lock ring 15 to be bitten into the resin pipe 22 and on an adapter 17 for moving toward the packing 12b a lock ring 15 being pressed by the engagement with the second pressing ring 6b.
