<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell, having an electrolyte membrane laminating a hydrogen permeating metal layer and an electrolyte layer, in which leakage of hydrogen can be suppressed, when leakage of hydrogen occurs. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell is provided with an electrolyte membrane 100 having a hydrogen-permeating metal layer 110 which permeates hydrogen selectively and an electrolyte layer 120 which is formed on the surface of the hydrogen-permeating metal layer 110 and has proton conductivity. The electrolyte membrane 100 has a leakage suppression part generating structure 140, which generates a leakage suppressing part for suppressing the leakage of hydrogen by utilizing a reaction caused by occurrence of a defect, when the defect has occurred inside the electrolyte layer 120 or at the interface of the hydrogen permeating metal layer 110 and the electrolyte layer 120, and the hydrogen leaks through the defect. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
