<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a door opening and closing system allowing an aged person and a physically handicapped person to satisfy operation property and ease of use simultaneously. <P>SOLUTION: This door opening and closing system is provided with a door opening and closing mechanism having an electric lock for locking and unlocking a door, an electric motor, and a hydraulic closer to open and close the door, an operation start detection means for detecting start of opening and closing operation of the door, and a control means for operating the door opening and closing mechanism to open and close the door when detecting start of opening and closing operation of the door by the operation start detection means. The control means can operate the door opening and closing mechanism when acquiring predetermined information related to an operator by an information acquiring means provided in a handle part of the door.
