<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcing sleeve heating apparatus for an optical fiber, an apparatus that is excellent in operability and workability. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus is composed of: a heating table 15 on which a reinforcing sleeve 13 is placed that externally reinforces a fusion spliced part 9 of an optical fiber 11; a heating top cover 17 which can be opened or closed relative to the heating table 15; a heating unit 3 which is equipped with a heater 19 for heating the reinforcing sleeve 13 by holding it between the heating table 15 and the heating top cover 17; a reciprocating first clamp unit 5 which, arranged in one end of the heating unit 3, holds the optical fiber 11 with a clamping table 33 and a clamping top cover 35 that can be opened/closed; and a fixed second clamp unit 7 which, arranged in the other end of the heating unit 3, holds the optical fiber 11 with a clamping table 25 and a clamping top cover 27 that can be opened/closed. The apparatus is designed such that the heating top cover 17 of the heating unit 3, and each clamping top cover 35, 27 of the first and second clamp units 5, 7 are interlocked with each other so as to be simultaneously opened/closed and that a tensile force is imparted to the optical fiber 11 by moving the first clamp unit 5 in the direction of pulling the optical fiber 11 through the operation of a driving means 37 on completion in closing each top cover 17, 27, 35. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
