<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the quantity of light to be irradiated by a projector-type head lamp for vehicles constituted so as to form a light distribution pattern for a low beam, without hindrance in the formation of the light distribution pattern for a low beam. <P>SOLUTION: At a predetermined position separated from the optical axis Ax of the lamp towards the breadthwise outside of a car between a projection lens 28 and a reflector 24, a prism-like lens 34 is provided for refracting direct light proceeding from the light source 22a towards the breadthwise outside of the car closer to the optical axis Ax, and by light emitted from it an additional light distribution pattern is formed on the side of the breadthwise outside of the car of a fundamental light distribution pattern formed by transmitted light through the projection lens 28. Moreover, an additional reflector 36 is provided for reflecting towards the prism-like lens 34 direct light proceeding from the light source 22a towards the breadthwise inside of the car, at a predetermined position separated to the side of the breadthwise inside of the car from the optical axis Ax between the projection lens 28 and the reflector 24, and by doing this way a second additional light distribution pattern is formed on the side of the breadthwise outside of the car of the additional light distribution pattern. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
