PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil composition for lubricating a sliding part wherein a contact pressure of about 800-2,000 MPa works as in the case of a gear and a bearing, which composition produces excellent antiwear characteristics and fatigue resistance characteristics. SOLUTION: The lubricating oil composition contains 5-20 vol% of a compound which has a 100°C viscosity of≤1,000 Pa s under pressures of≤700 MPa and gives one of≥40,000 Pa s, due to becoming a glassy state, under pressures of≥800 MPa.
