PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a wideband speech recovery apparatus which estimates a stable wideband sound source at correct amplitude from a narrow-band speech or narrow-band speech code without receiving the effect of differences in speakers or noise so much and recovers a high quality wideband speech signal. SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a narrow-band sound source restoration means for generating a narrow-band composite tone by using the narrow-band speech code, a spectrum restoration means for estimating a wideband spectrum parameter by using the narrow-band spectrum code separated from the narrow-band speech code, a wideband sound source restoration means for estimating the wideband sound source signal by using the narrow-band sound source code separated from the narrow-band speech code, and a composition means for generating the wide-band speech signal from the narrow-band composite tone generated therefrom, the estimated wideband spectrum parameter and the wideband sound source signal.
