PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and its method by which picture quality can be improved by contour correction matched with visual characteristics. SOLUTION: An output image generation part 203 generates an output image corresponding to an input image 101 and a dividing processing part 204 divides the output image into a plurality of blocks. A density detection part 205 detects image density information in each block and a contour detection part 206 extracts contour information. An output image correction part 207 controls the density of a contour part on the basis of the image density information and the contour information to perform image forming processing.
