An information recording medium, such as DVD-R and DVD-RW, is provided with a user information recording area wherein user information can be recorded. The user information recording area is provided with a prerecorded area, which prevents record reproduction of the user information, at an edge part corresponding to a recording area part wherein reproduction control information is recorded in a reproduction-only recording medium, such as DVD-video.
