<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording method and device capable of making optimum recording even on an optical disk whose optimum write strategy information is not obtained in advance without need for keeping all the write strategy information suitable to each optical disk. <P>SOLUTION: For a dye based recording medium, the write strategy for recording is determined based on the recommended write strategy recorded on an optical disk 160 and the the property of the optical recording device, and recording is made on the disk 160 based on the determined write strategy. For a phase change recording medium, the power ratio and modulation for recording are determined based on the recommended pulse width, the recommended power ratio, the recommended recording power of the write strategy recorded on the optical disk 160 and the property of the optical recording device, and recording is made on the optical disk 160 based on the determined power ratio and modulation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
