PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent observation endoscope apparatus capable of showing the outer edge of a dark part equivalent to a lesion included in a fluorescent image emphatically in the image. SOLUTION: A lamp 33 and a rotary shutter 32 irradiates an object alternately with white light and exciting light through a light guide 16 and a light distribution lens. Then, the image of the object by the white light reflected on the surface of the object and the image by fluorescence generated from viable tissue are alternately converted to video signals by an image pickup element 13. A video signal processing circuit 43 respectively extracts luminance components from a fluorescent video signal image outputted during irradiation with the exciting light and a normal color video signal outputted during the irradiation with the white light, matches the levels of both, then calculates a difference of both, and specifies a part where the absolute value of the difference is between two kinds of high and low thresholds. Then, the video signal processing circuit 43 changes the color information of the specified part in the normal color video signal to the one indicating a specified color and then outputs it to a monitor 60.
