<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve image quality and color reproducibility while eliminating time and effort for sensor replacement, etc., and preventing waste of paper, etc. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a detection means for detecting the density or chromaticity of a detection image formed on a recording medium, and a correction means for correcting the density or chromaticity of the image based upon the detection result obtained by the detection means.
