PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL element having low costs and high heat radiation properties. SOLUTION: In the electroluminescent element including at least a light emission layer 4 between two opposing substrates 1, 7 and electrodes 2, 6; the substrate 1 at the back side in the two substrates 1, 7 is a glass substrate, and one or entire portion of a heat radiation sheet 10 is buried in the glass substrate 1 for integration. The heat radiation sheet 10 is buried in the glass substrate 1 at the back side for integration, thus providing the EL element having low costs and high heat radiation properties. And when a back plate 2 is also buried in the back glass substrate 1, the EL element can be provided where a flat electrode can be formed and an image can be displayed uniformly.
