PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector in which an object to be connected inserted into a housing can be shielded surely against an electromagnetic wave, and furthermore in which the connector into which the object to be connected is inserted into one of vertical directions, and the one into which it is inserted into the other direction can be manufactured with ease respectively. SOLUTION: Because a grounding shell 30 is formed so as to cover the upper face, the lower face, and both side faces of the housing 10, a cable 1 in the housing 10 can be shielded electrically against any direction of the upper face, the lower face, and the both side faces of the housing 10, and a prevention effect against an electromagnetic obstacle can be improved remarkably. In this case, because the upper face side and the lower face side of the shell 30 are arranged respectively on the upper face side and the lower face side of the housing 10, a grounding contact part 31 can be installed not on the lower face side but on the upper face side of the shell 30, and for example the shell into which the cable 1 is inserted into the one of the up and down directions or the one into which the cable 1 is inserted into the other direction can be manufactured respectively with ease.
