PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hinge device, in which a free stop state is extremely favorably achieved, in which angle adjustment in the free stop state can be smoothly performed, and in which structure is simple to facilitate designing, and an electronic device using the hinge device. SOLUTION: In a rotation range where a cam part 7 is released from a cam engagement part 8, a top part of a protruded part 7A of the cam part 7 is applied to a sliding contact part 8B adjoining a recessed part 8A in the cam engagement part 8. In the sliding contact part 8B, a slide protruded part 10 or a slide recessed groove 11 having length in the rotation direction of the sliding contact part 8B is provided. The slide recessed groove 11 or the slide protruded part 10 to which the slide protruded part 10 or the slide recessed groove 11 is engaged and applied is provided in the protruded part 7A. A top surface of the slide protruded part 10 is formed in protruded curvature 10A or recessed curvature. A groove bottom surface of the slide recessed groove 11 is formed in recessed curvature 11A or protruded curvature to which the protruded curvature 10A or the recessed curvature of the slide protruded part 10 is applied. Contact area of the protruded part 7A to the sliding contact part 8B is thus set large, and friction resistance between the protruded part 7A to the sliding contact part 8B becomes higher in composing a friction resistance increasing means 12.
