PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To standardize embroidery data when using a flat frame and embroidery data when using a cylindrical frame. SOLUTION: This embroidery sewing machine is provided with an X-directional carriage 30 having a flat frame mount part where the flat frame is detachably mounted and equipped in a Y-directional carriage 21 movable in the X-direction; a cylindrical frame driving body 65 rotationally supported to the Y-directional carriage 21 and having a cylindrical frame mount part 65a where the cylindrical frame 16 is detachably mounted; a rack-pinion mechanism 75 interlockingly connecting the X-directional carriage 30 to the cylindrical frame driving body 65 via a rack member 76 formed in the X-directional carriage 30 and a pinion 67 formed in the outer circumferential part of the cylindrical frame driving body 65; and a carriage driving motor 42 capable of driving the X-directional carriage 30. A reference diameter of the pitch circle of the pinion 67 is constituted into an approximately same dimension to the outside diameter of a cloth covering surface 16f of the cylindrical frame.
