There is disclosed a pedal bin (1) comprising a container (3), a pedal (5) and a pivotably mounted flap (9). The flap (9) is locatable in a first position to facilitate opening of the flap in a first direction relative to the container (3). The flap is also locatable in a second position to facilitate opening of the flap (9) in a second direction relative to the container (3). In either position, the pedal (5) is operable to open the flap (9).
