PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an audio device that can surely protect a speaker if an inputted audio signal has an excessive level and informs a user of the excessive input state without making the user misunderstand that the speaker is failed. SOLUTION: The audio device has a detecting means (control circuit 55 and rectifying circuit 56) of detecting an audio signal inputted to one or both of 1st and 2nd voice coils (voice coils 52 and 53) of one speaker unit entering an excessive state and a control means (control circuit 55 and changeover switch 54) of reducing the vibration width of a diaphragm of the speaker unit by controlling a voltage applied to one of the voice coils when the detecting means detects the audio signal entering an excessive state.
