<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a shape of a gradation characteristic and enable adequate correction of gradation by a method wherein a continuous gradation pattern is actually outputted on a recording medium by an image forming apparatus capable of representing an intermediate tone to measure the density and the chroma. <P>SOLUTION: When there is a designation of setting an image condition, a gradation pattern continuous from one to 255 by each recording color component is formed. As a result, toner of the gradation pattern is transferred on a recording medium to be fed through a fixing device, and then an image is formed on the recording medium. The formed results are sequentially read by a color sensor 42 and the chroma of the continuous gradation pattern is read, and then the printing condition is set. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
