PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polishing method having excellent loading resistance and durability and providing fine finish in a short time in the case of polishing the curved surface of a workpiece. SOLUTION: The method of polishing the curved surface of the workpiece includes a process for providing a polishing material, a process for bringing the curved surface of the workpiece and the polishing material into contact, and a process for polishing the curved surface at least partially by moving the workpiece relative to the polishing material. The polishing material has a base material and a polishing layer provided on the base material and containing abrasive grains and a binder. The base material has a main surface and side edges facing each other in a longitudinal direction and parallel in the longitudinal direction. The polishing layer has a first layer bonded to the main surface, and a second layer including the abrasive grains dispersed in the binder. The polishing layer is formed with a plurality of parallel rows of prism shape or prismatic trapezoidal shape, and the parallel rows form an angle of 10-80°to the longitudinal direction.
