PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera capable of facilitating searching at reproduction by adopting a new operating sequence, so as to store image data to a folder corresponding to a principal object. SOLUTION: The digital camera includes: an extraction means for extracting a characteristic part of an object from image data; a classification means for classifying the image data into prescribed groups in response to the characteristic part extracted by the extraction means; and a recording means for recording the image data to a recording medium in response to a result of the classification classified by the classification means. Further, the recording means records the image data to areas corresponding to the group classified by the classification means on the recording medium provided with the areas for storing a plurality of image data belonging to the same group altogether.
