PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system capable of displaying selectively a facility existing in the vicinity of a route, taking the purpose of visiting a destination into account. SOLUTION: This navigation system has a searching means (CPU 11, HDD 14) for searching the route from the present position to the destination, an acquisition means (CPU 11) for acquiring information about the purpose of visiting the destination, a retrieval means (CPU 11) for retrieving a storage device (HDD 14) to extract the facility existing in the vicinity of the route searched by the searching means and for providing an article or service related to the purpose acquired by the acquisition means, and a display means (LCD 18) for displaying the information related to the facility acquired by the retrieval means.
