PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device and method capable of reducing electric power consumption while improving high-speed responsiveness. SOLUTION: The recording device is constituted so that a first amount of data consisting of the maximum amount of data recordable continuously on a disk-like recording medium without the occurrence of a thread movement during verification according to the position on the disk-like recording medium for recording the data assigned by external equipment is detected and that the continuous data for the component of the first amount of data is read out of a temporary storage means based on the result of the detection and the read data is recorded to the disk.
