PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability, by easily performing installation work of a protective wire, determining the driving direction of a guard fence column, and aligning the direction of installation holes for a protective wire fixing fastener of the guard fence column constant, when erecting the guard fence column at a predetermined interval on the ground. SOLUTION: A leveling string 4 is first stretched in advance in the protective wire stretching direction. A driving direction confirming tool 1 is composed of the protective wire fixing fastener 6 engaging with the installation holes 2a and 2b for the protective wire fixing fastener and a bar-shaped member 5 fixed to this protective wire fixing fastener 6 similarly to the protective wire W, and is installed in any one of the installation holes 2a and 2b for the protective wire fixing fastener.
