PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use one pulse motor 13 for both driving of a platen roller 12, and opening and closing of a thermal head 11 to the platen roller 12. SOLUTION: When the pulse motor 13 is rotated in the counterclockwise direction, an opening and closing gear 21 in a state while engaged with an idler gear 20 rotates in the counterclockwise direction, thereby closing the thermal head 11. At the same time, the idler gear 20 and the opening and closing gear 21 are brought into a state not to be engaged with each other. When the pulse motor 13 is rotated in the clockwise direction, a pendulum 24 moves in the clockwise direction, and a pendulum gear 25 and the opening and closing gear 21 come to interlock with each other. The rotation of the idler gear 20 is transmitted via the pendulum gear 25 to the opening and closing gear 21.
