PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garbage treatment apparatus capable of efficiently discharging a treated garbage out of a discharge port of the garbage treatment apparatus. SOLUTION: This garbage treatment apparatus is enabled to rotate stirring means reversely and make the duration of stirring in the rotation direction for moving the treated garbage toward a discharge port side (right rotation) longer than the duration of stirring in the rotation direction for moving the treated garbage backward from the discharge port side (reverse rotation) on completion of decrease in volume of garbage. Accordingly, when moving the treated garbage toward the discharge port side, the treated garbage pinched by a treatment container and stirring blades is dropped by the rotation in the direction for moving the treated garbage backward from the discharge port side and also, since the duration of stirring in the rotation direction for moving the treated garbage toward the discharge port side is made longer than the duration of stirring in the rotation direction for moving the treated garbage backward from the discharge port side, the treated garbage can reliably be discharged out of the discharge port in a short time.
