<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display apparatus having a COT (color filter on thin film transistor) structure in which a light shielding means is structured in the periphery of a liquid crystal panel without an additional process, and to provide a method for manufacturing the display apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The display device is equipped with: a substrate 100 having a display region and a non-display region located at periphery portions of the display region, wherein the non-display region includes first to fourth non-display regions; a plurality of gate lines 102 parallel to the second and fourth non-display regions and including a first gate line closest to the second non-display region and a second gate line closest to the fourth non-display region; a plurality of data lines 118 parallel to the first and third non-display regions and crossing the plurality of gate lines to define a plurality of pixel regions in the display region and including a first data line closest to the first non-display region; and a light shielding means 106, 120 corresponding to the non-display region and located in the same layer as one or more of the gate line and the data line, and including first to fourth shielding means corresponding to the first to fourth non-display regions, respectively. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
