PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing plate material with a polyester substrate, which does not cause poor coating, and which is excellent in halftone dot image quality, inking properties at the start of printing and the recovery of a non-image area from an ink stain, a printing plate, and a printing method using it. SOLUTION: The printing plate material is characterized as follows: an image forming function layer is provided on the polyester substrate; at least one easy-to-contact layer is provided between the image forming function layer and the polyester substrate; and the easy-to-contact layer contains a copolyester (A), a water-soluble polymer (B) which is selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinyl pyrrolidone, and particulates (C).
