PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prephosphate steel sheet having satisfactory slidability, weldability, chemical convertibility and oil level adhesion, and to provide its production method. SOLUTION: In the phosphate-coated galvanized steel sheet, the surface of plating on at least on side is provided with a prephosphate film. The steel sheet is characterized in that the coating weight of the prephosphate film is 1 to 5 mmol/m<SP>2</SP>expressed in terms of P, further, Zn/P, the molar ratio between Zn and P contained in the prephosphate film is 1.0 to 2.0, and the Zn content in quite the surface layer of the prephosphate film is≤3 mol%.
