PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus where overload is prevented from occurring on an electric motor and a lens cover because the transmission path of motive power for moving the lens cover is cut off by a motive power cutoff means when the lens cover biased by a biasing means exists at a shut position where it shuts the photographic lens, so that trouble is prevented from being caused in the electric motor, the lens cover and a gear train so as to prevent the electric motor, the lens cover and the gear train from being damaged. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus is equipped with a lens device 3 on which light from a subject is made incident, the lens cover 5 with which the photographic lens 10 opposed to the subject in the lens device 3 is covered to be freely opened/shut, and a cover moving mechanism 25 moving the lens cover 5 between the position where it shuts the photographic lens and an open position where it opens the photographic lens. The cover moving mechanism 25 is provided with a coil spring 24 biasing the lens cover 5 to the position where it shuts the photographic lens 10, and a rack member 23 and a tooth lacked gear 35 cutting off the transmission path of the motive power for moving the lens cover 5 when the lens cover 5 exists at the position where it shuts the photographic lens.
