PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a printing period in a method for manufacturing a display plate, wherein the display plate is manufactured through such a process that ultraviolet curing ink is printed on a translucent resin substrate by using an ink-jet method. SOLUTION: In the method, a first black ink layer 6a, a blue ink layer 4a and a gray ink layer 5a are printed on the rear face 7b of the resin substrate 7, and then a second black ink layer 6b, a third black ink layer 6b and a white ink layer 9 are in order printed so as to lap over the first black ink layer 6a, thereby forming a blue translucent section 4, a gray translucent section 5 and a black opaque section 6. A first ink layers 4a, 5a and 6a are made up with a resolution of 1,200 DPI, and a second and subsequent ink layers 6b, 6c and 9 are made up with a resolution of 600 DPI. Therefore, the period required to form all ink layers can be shortened in comparison with a process wherein the all ink layers are printed with the resolution of 1,200 DPI.
