PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a throughput of a printer in the case of recording a plurality of color images while wasting of a recording medium and image quality worsening due to a load change during transfer of the recording medium are prevented. SOLUTION: While opposed to image recording heads 171a-173a of a printing part 170, a paper unwound from a feeding part 140 is transferred towards the transfer direction downstream side without printing of the color images being carried out. Thereafter, while the paper is sent reversely towards the transfer direction upstream side, the plurality of color images are continuously printed by the image recording heads 171a-173a of the printing part 170. The image recording head 173a at the rearmost side along the direction in which the paper is reversely sent moves from a printing position to a retreat position when satisfying two conditions that recording of the plurality of color images is finished, and the image recording head adjacent to the leading end side along the direction in which the paper is reversely sent is opposed to blank parts Y1 and Y2.
