PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a main spindle device which can confirm the mounted state of a tool on the main spindle, and further can be applied to a high speed main spindle. SOLUTION: The main spindle comprises a clamping means for moving a draw bar 22 backward by a disc spring 30, and an unclamping means for moving the draw bar 22 forward by a cylinder-piston device. A probe 66 for detecting the position of the draw bar 22 is arranged so as to advance to and recede from the rear end portion 22a of the draw bar 22. The mounted state of the tool is confirmed by means of a plurality of sensors 70, 72, 74 for detecting the position of the probe 66. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
