The auxiliary heating system (10) for a vehicle has an auxiliary heater (12) and an exhaust pipe (14) to carry out exhaust gas. The exhaust pipe has a first section (22) in the exhaust path on the heater side, a second section (24) on the exhaust outlet side, and a third section (26) installed between the first and second sections. The cross-sectional area of the third exhaust pipe through which flows the exhaust gas is smaller than the respective cross-sectional area of the first and second exhaust pipe sections. A silencer (20) installed between the auxiliary heater and first exhaust pipe section. An independent claim is included for a vehicle with the aforesaid auxiliary heater.
