The shelf system comprises a back wall (1), on which the inner ends (2a) of shelves (2) are supported, e.g. by slides (5). Cables (6) fastened to the top of the wall support the outer ends (2b) of the shelves. An independent claim is included for a method for assembling the shelf system.
