PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce overhead in writing data in a disk array system of a RAID (level 5) to improve the processing performance by distributing the data. SOLUTION: A duplexing area is provided in a group with parity formed therein. During the writing, the data to be written is temporarily written in the duplexing area (Step 502), and writing processing is completed to a CPU at the time (Step 508). Parity is formed at a subsequent adequate timing (Step 516), and written in an SCSI drive (Step 522). In other words, parity is formed with efficient scheduling separately from the data writing. Parity forming overhead during the writing is not loaded on the CPU by writing the data to be written in the duplexing area, and performing the writing of the data in the SCSI drive and the parity forming in a temporally independent manner.
