A railway car or omnibus body (12, 13) has a window retained within a window (11) frame (20) assembly (11). The frame (20) is separated from the window glass periphery (22, 37) by a gap. The frame (20) stands proud of the window periphery (37). The frame and window are linked by a profiled seal (23). An L-shaped retaining flange (16) with a dovetail joint (39) anchors a lateral seal against the window edge (37).
