<p>A heat pump has a hot water storage system with a cold water inlet in the lower part and a hot water supply in the upper section, linked by a heat exchanger. A temperature sensor (7) is located in the lower part of the tank (3). Alternatively an impeller flow meter (25) is located in the water pipe. The sensor or flow meter trigger operation of the heat pump (2) if the water flow is less than 30%.</p>
