<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly durable optical recording and reproducing apparatus by preventing adhesion of dirt and dust near to a light ejection section of an optical head. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording and reproducing apparatus comprises a light source, an optical head for recording information by irradiating an information recording medium with light from the light source, and a detecting system for detecting the light returning from the information recording medium, wherein the optical head has a lens for condensing the light to the information recording medium and a substrate having a first surface and second surface parallel with each other and supporting the lens on the first surface.
