A light-emitting element comprises a light-emitting layer (204) and at least one light-extracting portion, wherein at least a part of the light-extracting portion (202) is formed into a concave or convex surface for enhancing the efficiency of extracting light, and wherein electrodes opposite in polarity are formed on a surface side portion of said light-emitting element opposite to said light-emitting portion.
