Staphylococcus aureus specific array and diagnostics

Means and methods are provided for typing sample nucleic acid derived from Staphylococcus aureus. Typing is performed using an array of nucleic acids wherein the detector nucleic acid comprises a size of between about 200 and 5000 nucleotides and wherein the sample nucleic acid comprises an average size of between 50 and 5000 nucleotides. Hybridization is compared with a reference pattern. There is no need to specifically type the detector nucleic acid.
